KAHILTNA PLACER MINE AND TOURIST ATTRACTION
|
The Kahiltna River claims consist of 100 State of Alaska 40 acres claims. They lie along the Kahiltna River about 60 miles NNW of Anchorage, Alaska.
All the claims have gold bearing materials with fine gold, lots of match head size nuggets and some up to _ oz. It is a beautiful area with lots of fish and wildlife. The owner used the camp site as a commercial tourist recreation mining lodge. The current operation is shut down because of partnership problems. The owner reports that many of the test areas yielded $9-$20 per yard. Union Carbide had an interest in the property several years back and did extensive testing and almost purchased it from the previous owners. Much testing was also done by the reputable St. Joes Minerals testing company. Permits are re-issued each year upon application and are quite easy to obtain since they are State claims.
The Recreational Tourist Camp is set up like a fishing lodge except the customers mine for gold and keep all that they find, and there is also some fishing with three different species of salmon. The lodge sets on a Bluff 45 feet above the river, has a beautiful view, and occupies one 40 acre claim. The permits allow for up to 6 12 x 14 wall tents built on wood platforms with plywood sides, each 4 to 8 people. The potential is enormous! The access is by airplane, boat, recreational vehicle (3 o r 4 wheeler) or snow machine. There are flight services ten or fifteen minutes away that will fly you in and out.
During the summer of 1992 we had a crew working a small area about one half mile east of the camp area. The average depth of mineable material was 8-13 feet and this would appear to be average for the area. There is very little over-burden and gold is found at grass roots in many places. There appears to be lots of gold but is mostly fine and requires well-adjusted plant to keep it all. There are many millions of cu. yards of pay gravel.
A small to medium size backhoe and front-end loader is included.
The entire package is being liquidated for cash or trade for property or business in warm climate.
The asking price for these claims in including equipment is $650,000.
