GOLD
DAN CREEK
This is one of those special places you could spend the rest of your life. Hunting, trapping and gold mining on a beautiful 800 acres of patented land and the surrounding hundreds of thousand of acres of virgin wilderness.

This placer deposit was an active producer from 1902 to the 1990’s. When the government shut down other gold mines during WW2 this mine was allowed to remain open because so much native copper nuggets were being produced along with the gold. The biggest nugget was over 9000 pounds. The mining was done by large "giants" washing out the gravel and piling up the tailings. When the depth of the ground became too deep for the "giants", work stopped on the main creek. That deep ground is rich but will probably require a large drag-line to do the job. Large drag-lines can now be purchased quite cheaply from some coal producers. Approximately a square mile of this type ground remained untouched. There are also some bench ground of undetermined extent.

There is a very unusual water source that could produce substantial electricity for a large operation even in the winter-time.

The beauty of this property makes it an idea location for an upscale lodge. There is also a platted subdivision of 60 lots of about 1 acre each. About 8 of the lots were sold earlier. There is some demand for them now but owner is holding off selling more.

The National Park Service would like buy this property but no money has been appropriated and as it is just outside the park could not force owner to sell.
