After being staked in the summer of 1916 the prospect was mined underground by group of men during the winter of 1916-17. 3000+ oz. of gold and platinum were recovered. Also a large amount of prehistoric bones and mastodon tusks were unearthed. Soon after the owner was murdered by a wood-cutter and mine was not really worked afterward though many prospect shafts were put down in later years. The current owners spent one winter back in the 80’s drift mining about 2500 sq. ft. recovering some gold, platinum and a lot of ivory. They now have 2 cabins and equipment there to do the drift mining. The property really needs to be drilled to located best areas to mine and then strip mine it. Drift mining is a winter project and strip mining a 5 month summer undertaking. The pay gravels are about 2-4 ft thick lying on bedrock and are covered with 25-30 ft. of frozen muck. Not only does this property hold potential for sizeable placer deposit but source veins may well be exposed in mining. Boob Creek is located 280 air miles NW of Anchorage and 20 miles NW of Ophir (a group of small mines but no town). There is an airstip 10 miles north at another mine which may or may not have inhabitants. This area has been little prospected and holds much potential. The property consist of 14 State mining claims of 40 acres each. One partner wants to stay and actively work on property as he believes it holds very great promise. The other partners live out of state and would like to sell their half ownership for the very low price of $75,000.
